31 Weeks and On a Diet

Had my check-up the other day. First thing my OB said to me when she saw me was "Ang laki mo!" Thank you ha. Haha! No I wasn't offended, I know I'm big. I gained 10lbs in 5 weeks. I'm bigger than when I was pregnant with Y. My current weight was my weight when I gave birth to Y! I eat like a monster! I'm always hungry, I can't help it and masarap kasi talaga kumain!

My blood pressure was a bit high too. My OB got worried. If it remains this high, she'll have to give me medication. :( She advised me to go on a low sodium, low carb diet which is really hard for me to do. I love rice, bread, potatoes... :( Kaya ko 'to!
I'll see her again in two weeks so let's see.

Since I didn't get to consult other OBs for/on VBAC, CS na ulit ako. My OB said that I can give birth any time from June 11 - 20. We just have to pick a date and schedule my operation. Bigla akong natakot!

I still got a list of things to do and buy. My balikbayan box is almost on its way, just waiting for a couple of things na lang! Having a baby is really overwhelming, even if it's the second baby! Plus I'm also a bit anxious because this time it's a boy! For sure, iba ang experience! I'm psyching myself up just by writing this entry! Waahhhh...

Body Issues!

Y will be seven months on Wednesday. That means it has been seven months since I gave birth, and I haven't lose any weight! This week, I started to eat "healthier" haha! I eat oats now for dinner. I don't snack as often as before. I was kind of hesitant to this because I've read that you can't go on diet when you're breastfeeding. I was afraid it would affect my milk supply! Well, to my surprise, it didn't! It even increased a little, maybe because I was eating oats for breakfast and dinner. I don't really know.

When I was pregnant, I love eating doughnuts! OMG. There's a Dunkin' Donut in my office building and everyday I would buy one or two doughnuts or a bunch of munchkins, and I would wolf them down in just seconds! Thank God I didn't get any problems with my sugar/glucose level when I was pregnant. I also love Krispy Kreme and Starbuck's Doughnuts! In short, I became a sweet tooth! And I think this continued until now! I need to eat something sweet every after meal. Now, how would I lose weight?! This week, I didn't eat so much sweets. I was never a sweet tooth before, so I know I can resist them... LOL!

I think I became complacent with my weight. Pregnancy really changes your body. It's not the same as before. I thought I could lose all these with what I usually do before. Which is nothing! I just limit my food.

Last Friday, while shopping for clothes. I tried so many things, and my arms look like a log! With all the fats and cellulites, my gosh. I die! That's when it really hit hard, I really need to watch what I'm eating, eat less without affecting my milk, I want to be thin again!

I guess I haven't really embraced this body I have now. I don't want to accept this body YET...

Breastfeeding & Weight Gain

Today marks my 4th month of exclusively breastfeeding my baby. I can't believe that it has been 4 months. It wasn't easy at first, sore and cracked nipples and the occasional engorgement, but those didn't stop me from breastfeeding. With sore nipples I just put Medela Tender Care Lanolin on my nipples after feeding, it eases the soreness, and after the first 2 weeks of breastfeeding, it was smooth sailing. Except for the time that I had low supply but that would be another entry.

My ultimate goal is to breastfeed her until I have milk to offer her. Reaching 4 months is an accomplishment, and I hope to continue until she's 1-year old. At 4 months, her weight is 5.5 kg, she only gained 400g from her last check-up which was a month ago, she's tall and lean, but not underweight, just need some catch up to do! Her weight didn't match her height or vice versa. Her pedia set a goal for her weight last month which was 6.5 kg and for her to take at least 30 to 34 oz of breast milk a day. But that didn't exactly happen. So after this morning's check up, her pedia set another goal of 7 kg for next month, and 35 oz of breast milk to be consumed per day! Whew!

We got some serious catching up to do, baby girl! Let's get to it!
