Go #TeamMOM! Celebrating 10 Years of Expo Mom!

Sticking to a fitness routine or activity isn't one of my forte. I've fallen off and joined the diet bandwagon so many times and it wasn't until last year when an FB chat turned into a pilates meet-up the next day and has blossomed into so much more than just getting fit together.
Meet my #TeamMom, my pilates-mates: Jackie, Chessy and Michelle!

Motherhood isn't easy. There are challenges along the way, there's ups and downs, there's laughter, I think I've experienced the most emotions when I became a mom. When I gave birth to Y, I was the first to become a mom among my friends. I didn't have a mommy support group and it wasn't until I started blogging and tweeting that I met my online-turned-into-real-life friends and support group.

Our FB chat is more than just conversation about pilates, it's about motherhood, shopping, yaya problems and anything under the sun and there's totally no judgement. We are each other's inspiration and motivation. If it isn't for these moms, I don't think I wouldn't have what it takes to maintain pilates. Seriously! I don't live in the same area as them and the pilates studio, so it's really an effort on my part but it's really all worth it. You can read our story here: http://mommymundo.com/teammom-the-pilates-moms/!
OneLife Studio is our happy place!
You can also watch our video here! Pasensya na, magulo anak ko hahaha! It doesn't get more real than this. LOL!

Expo Mom celebrates its tenth year this 2017, the longest running of its kind. This year Expo Mom pay tribute to #TeamMoms that have served as a lifeline for mothers all over the Philippines. First leg is happening on May 5-7 at the Glorietta Activity Center. Bring your #TeamMom, have a mommy day-off and shop together with over than 80 booths of mom, baby and kid-focused products. There will be onstage talks and demos too! We'll be on stage around 2:15PM! Hope to see you there!
Every mother has a #TeamMom behind her – a group of moms who have come together, either through shared interest or common history, to savor every exciting twist and turn of their mommyhood journey. #TeamMom encourages her to take advantage of her strengths and helps her work through her weaknesses. #TeamMom knows when she needs to let her hair down and laugh at everyday foibles. #TeamMom also knows when a moment calls for an all-out cry or a gentle pat in the back. Above all, #TeamMom cheers her through every moment and milestone, whether big or small.

The Expo Mom 2017 #TeamMom event this May is co-presented by Belo Baby, PLDT Home, Sun Life Financial, Caltrate and Ponstan. Major sponsors including Jeron Travel, Motts, Pampers, The Picture Company, and supported by Baby Zone, Electrolux, and Pediapharma; with Working Mom, Newlyweds@Work, and Community Connect as media sponsors, Glorietta, Ayala Malls as venue sponsor, and Creative Juice Communications as logistics partner.

Expo Mom 2016: The Motherhood Journey + a Giveaway!

When I was a new mom, I'm grateful there's Mommy Mundo and Expo Mom. I discovered new brands, met mompreneurs who now are my friends, joined Pregnant Pause and even became a mompreneur who sells at Expo Mom because I really believed in Mommy Mundo's advocacy. Now on its ninth year, Mommy Mundo brings you Expo Mom 2016 on April 29-30 at the Glorietta Activity Center!

This year's theme is The Motherhood Journey. Being a mom is very challenging, whether you are pregnant, a new mom, a mom with a toddler, a mom raising a child/ren or even a mom to teens, you'll find both enlightenment and encouragement at this year's Expo Mom. This year, Expo Mom: The Motherhood Journey has four badges that represents what stage you are in this exciting journey of motherhood!
I'm a mom of two pre-schoolers! I still can't believe that R will be in big school already this coming school year. I no longer have a baby at home. Haha! I'm excited but at the same time very emotional about this new milestone. He'll be celebrating his first birthday in school and there will be a lot of firsts for him this year! With the two of them now at this stage, I already know the dynamics. Being yaya-less on/off for a year made me a more independent mom, sometimes it's still hard to handle situations when the both of them are being difficult! Haha! It's really a journey, a challenging but exciting one!

ChildHope's Kindness Campaign 2015: Save, Spend, and Share!

A few weeks ago during our lunch with Janice for the Mom Manifesto launch at Slice, we also got to know about Childhope Asia Philippines, MomShare's (Mommy Mundo's outreach arm) partner beneficiary for 2015.
ChildHope is a non-stock, non-government, and non-profit organization working to help the welfare of Filipino street children. ChildHope provides them with basic social services, values education, and vocational skills among others.

When I was younger, I've always thought what if I put a place and take in every street children I see, feed them, have a place for them to stay and take a bath. Wouldn't that be nice? It's really heartbreaking to see these street kids with no food to eat and sleeping on the side walk. It is nice to know that there are NGO such as ChildHope that we can work with to do different activities to benefit these kids like walk-a-thons or bowl-a-thons to raise funds for ChildHope. You can even celebrate your birthday with the them by having a feeding activity!
Chips Guevara, board member of ChildHope, who shared with us the Kindness Campaign 2015.

Now that Y's in her curious stage, she always ask why are there street children and why are they asking for money. Where are their parents? Where do they eat? Why do you have to give them food? It's overwhelming to answer all these questions a 4-year old asks and I always answer them the best way I could. I want my kids to learn to share, have compassion, respect and how to nurture kindness. The Kindness Campaign is just perfect for her, it's simple and is easily understood by young children like Y.
You can do this at home! Gather three jars or cans and label each jar, SAVE, SPEND, and SHARE.

Eversince I gave the cans to Y, she has been asking me, her papa, yaya and her grandparents for coins so she can put it inside her cans. Although she wants to save it all for her, we always remind her to share so the kids she sees on the street can have food, shelter and toys.
And after filling the SHARE can, you can go to a ChildHope Sharing afternoon, where you can organize or join one of their feeding programs so your kids can experience and see for themselves who are they helping! I can't wait for our SHARE can to be filled up!

If you are going to the Expo Mom, you can also bring your donations in cash and kind, this is in lieu of entrance fees! If you want to get in touch with ChildHope, you may reach them thru the ChildHope Asia Philippines Facebook Page or you can reach them at these numbers: +6325634647 / +6325617118.

Join The #MomManifesto, Discover Your Mommy Mission, and Win Php10,000 Worth of Expo Mom 2015 Spree!

We had a staycation last weekend and I feel so tired from what supposed to be a "vacation". My whole body hurts from carrying R, I need a massage! But I have so much writing to catch up on, plan our menu for the week, think of activities to keep the kids busy, plus I have meetings and events to attend. Just thinking of everything makes me so tired and makes me want that massage more badly. But since I won't have time to have a me-time any time this week, I'm glad I have the Mom Manifesto online workshop to work on at home.
Mom Manifesto is already on Activity #2. Activity #3 will be on May 1!

#MomManifesto is this year's theme for Expo Mom! Mommy Mundo founder Janice Villanueva and certified psychologist Michele Alignay M.A. designed an online workshop which consists a 6-step program to be fulfilled within a five week period.

And by the end of the series, moms will be able to come up her own #MomManifesto, a statement of mission in her life, goals, priorities, hopes and dreams and her guiding statement in her life.

Print it out and post in the #MomManifesto Wall to share with fellow moms at Expo Mom on May 22 to 24, 2015 at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City. If you cannot make it to the expo, you can also share your statements online to join in the celebration!

And not only you can come up with your #MomManifesto, you also get a chance to win Php10,000 shopping spree at Expo Mom! Here's how you can join:
1. The #MomManifesto campaign begins on April 22 online at expomom.com/mommanifesto

2. Every Friday, starting April 24, a downloadable worksheet will be posted on the Mommy Mundo website.
3. After printing it out, it will only take 15 minutes for moms to complete the activity, which she can accomplish wherever she maybe.
4. Participants will be asked to complete their assignment by Monday.
5. There will be a total of five activities plus one culminating session, the final session be posted on May 22, 2015.
6. At the Expo Mom event, she can post her Mom Manifesto sheet on the Statement Wall and join fellow moms as we shout out mommy mission!

A&D Weekend Guide: Expo Mom 2014 - You The Mom!

By the time a child reaches his second birthday, his mother would have changed his diaper 7,300 times. By his 18th birthday, she would have prepared for him 19,710 meals--and spent more than 100,000 hours to his care, granted that she gets to sleep eight hours every day that is, which is doubtful. Motherhood truly is an all-encompassing vocation, which can sometimes overwhelm mothers themselves.

But what makes moms so good at what they do is that they absolutely love what they’re doing. Caring for baby while running her home, making sure healthy meals are prepared at home, and all the children’s needs are met. They do the groceries, take the kids to the dentist, and oh, and in most households, moms hold 9 to 5 jobs or run successful businesses too!

Mommy Mundo Founder Janice Villanueva says, “We admire moms for their almost superhuman qualities, their powers in time management and multitasking alongside their ability to do anything and everything for their loved ones, and they all do these things wholeheartedly and passionately at that! And because most moms do all these tasks with grace and usually with flair even, we may sometimes forget to show her some appreciation and affirmation.

Even moms themselves sometimes don’t seem to recognize their own efforts. That’s because taking on numerous responsibilities and caring for those we love come natural to us. Still, we should take pride in who we are and the important roles we play not only in our own families, but also in our communities and country.

This Expo Mom 2014, we shout out YOU THE MOM! – this is a campaign to recognize the many big and small accomplishments of all moms. Through various planned activities online and at the Expo Mom event, we affirm and appreciate all the awesome things that moms do every single day, whether they’re taking care of their babies at home, doing volunteer work for a cause they believe in, or helping out a friend in need.

Now on its seventh year, Expo Mom is the biggest event of its kind, gathering progressive, active moms in an environment that’s both recreational and educational. Showcasing beloved mom brands alongside mom-created products, Expo Mom has drawn over 60,000 mom participants since 2008. It has become a venue for like-minded moms to establish lasting connections and has also become the catalyst for the mompreneur movement in Manila. This year’s Expo Mom will feature over 60 booths at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center, Palm Drive, Ayala Center. Expo Mom 2014 will also feature all-day talks, demos, and raffle draws.

Expo Mom’s You The Mom! campaign puts the spotlight on all the unbelievably good things that moms do by featuring 10 women whose stories represent every mom who has made a difference in her community, her family and in her child’s life. Real portraits of these moms, as photographed by Cres Rodriguez-Yulo, will be showcased via in an online gallery, hoping to spur on a complimenting social media campaign encouraging everybody to take the time to post a #youthemom statement. Statements from moms can be a post on what they are most proud of as a mom. For non-moms, posts can be a shout out all the good things that your mom has done for you or recognize a mom friend who inspires you. By using the hashtag #youthemom and #expomommanila, posts will be tracked and 3 of its participants will get a chance to win sponsored shopping sprees at Expo Mom.

At Expo Mom, a “You The Mom!” signature wall will allow moms to write their statements on what they are most proud of as a mom. “You The Mom!” is a celebration of motherhood,” Janice says. “We want to give value to moms who make a difference in the lives of our families and influence the course of our country. If you know of such a mom, give her a hug today to show just how much you appreciate her. If you’re a mom yourself, go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back because you’re doing an awesome job! You The Mom!”

Entrance to Expo Mom 2014 will be a requested donation to MomShare’s literacy projects. One hundred percent of Expo Mom’s entrance fees will go to its partner beneficiary, Kinder Project, which aims to provide reading tools and training to public school teachers in Quezon City and Payatas.

Mommy Mundo Privilege Passport holders get in free and will bring home a You The Mom! Tote bag. To apply for a Passport, log on to www.mommymundo.com/passport.

Expo Mom 2013: Celebrating #Momtuition + A Giveaway!

We all have heard the saying/expression "Moms know best!". I've heard my mom said it over and over again during my teenage years.  I didn't believe it until I became a mom!

And once we become moms, we gain a superpower! I'm sure it's not only me who get that indescribable feeling when there's something wrong with our kids. We don't know what exactly it is but often than not, we moms are correct.

This year, Expo Mom is celebrating #Momtuition!
“Today’s moms have access to so many sources of information that we sometimes forget that we are gifted with a very powerful sens —our instinct. They say all women are born with such an instinct, but I believe that moms have a heightened sense since we give so much care and nurturing love to our family and children and are so connected to them. We want to remind moms about this “superpower” and this is why we chose ‘mothers’ instinct’ or we call it MOMTUITION as our theme for this year’s EXPO MOM,” says Janice Villanueva, founder of Mommy Mundo, organizers of Expo Mom, the definitive source of parenting-oriented trends, products, and information.

Sharing with you is this video of Kris and Jenny of SoMoms talking about #Momtuition!
At Expo Mom 2013, moms will be reminded to trust their inner voice, listen to their guts, and realize ways of tuning in to this most precious gift as a way of celebrating it! It is the perfect venue for moms to connect with other moms about their intuitive experiences as Expo Mom 2013 will gather influencers to give testimony to the power of mom intuition. Experts will teach moms to develop this gift and take full advantage of it.
