August Skincare Empties + Quick Review

I've been posting about my skincare empties for almost 3 years now on my IG (@glowbycai), you can check it out here: #GlowByCaiEmpties! It's my way of keeping track and being accountable. I make sure to empty every product I opened and like and this is also to keep me from opening new products of the same category.

Sharing with you my August Skincare Empties, with a quick review for each product! This is my empties for the month, most of them were opened 3-4 months ago!

A total of 11 products which is quite a lot already. I always feel satisfied and accomplished whenever I see my empties stash! **I will include affiliate links for some of the products. 😊

Let's start from left to right, front then back.
- it's the perfect size for travel (but we ain't going nowhere 😐)
- it leaves a film after washing it off but nothing a good cleanser can wash it off as well
- it doesn't emulsify as much
- this also the perfect size for traveling
- it emulsifies nicely and removes sunscreen, dirt and grime
- this is a really nice cleansing balm and really worth a try!
- it has 5.25% Glycolic Acid - great for AHA beginners
- it stings a little
- 3 starts because my skin prefers stronger acids
Anua Heartleaf Soothing Toner ⭐ ⭐ ⭐⭐ ⭐
- super love this toner! I use 3 layers every routine.
- keeps my skin plumped and hydrated
- suits all skin types
Round Lab Dokdo Toner ⭐ ⭐ ⭐⭐ ⭐
- I love this toner too! I alternate this with Anua and I also use 3 layers every routine
- it's lightweight but very hydrating
-suits all skin types
Cosrx Hydrium Watery Toner ⭐ ⭐ ⭐⭐ ⭐
- another lightweight toner I loved using!
- I also layer this 3 times and prefer using this in the morning because of its watery consistency
- I will definitely purchase the full size one soon
- I never got the Niacinamide hype until I tried this!
- It brightened my skin and make it look so healthy
- And it's very affordable
- A great Vitamin C serum for beginners
- It can be a bit oily so best to use this at night
- Best to keep in the fridge
- this is one of my favorite local cleansers
- it's non-stripping and gentle
- I really enjoyed using this and the scent as well!

That's all for August! Hope you enjoyed this post and just comment if you have any questions on the products!

#GlowByCaiReviews Cosrx Propolis Light Ampoule

Easing in to blogging again! Will try to post my skincare reviews from my @glowbycai skincare IG!

Cosrx is one of the OG in the Kbeauty world. Every skincare beginner goes thru a Cosrx phase! I love the brand and selection of products that cater to different skin concerns and situations.

I won this Cosrx Propolis Light Ampoule from one of the events over at Go.Picky! Go.Picky is an app (Android and iOS) where you can check out skincare product reviews, discussions over products, routines, and there's the Picky Rewards where you can apply to review products! When you decide to register, please use my code: BAB3F7A7! Thank you!

This is the second propolis product I’ve tried from Cosrx. The first one was the Propolis Synergy Toner which I really like as well!
I really love the new minimal and frosted bottles of Cosrx. So chic!
Ampoules are supercharged serums! And this one has 83% of Black Bee Propolis Extract, a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredient. The consistency is quite viscous, I thought it would be tacky and I would not like it. I’m really expecting it to be good because I really enjoyed the toner! And it
is good! This ampoule absorbs beautifully and I wake up with healthy and glowing skin. ☺️
I use this on days when I’m exposed to the sun for hours (laundry or garden day) and only at night because of its consistency. This ampoule feels like a hug to the skin! I still follow it up with a moisturizer or an overnight mask to seal it in the goodness 🍯

Thank you again Go Picky for letting me try this!

What's Up with Apples & Dumplings....

Wow, it's been more than a month since my last blog entry! I took a mini break from all the stress that has been piling up from my work-at-home job. I took a break from that job and I'm lucky my boss is very understanding. It's also getting busier at Paper Chic as well, it's always this time of the year when everything is all about the holidays. It's less than 40 days away from Christmas! You can feel at the malls with all the decors and TRAFFIC at the parking as well... so I'm trying to finish all my shopping online and before November ends so I can focus on Paper Chic Studio.

I have so many ideas for products and I never really got to execute them or really develop my ideas into something tangible. I always have reasons and excuses for delaying them: kids, no yaya, house chores, my job... then I ended up seeing regretting not doing it before and now others are doing it as well. Nauna na sana ako diba? Kulang pa ako sa push! Now, I have a few products in line and I really have to push myself to finish it before this week so I can put it out on my shelves for Christmas. I have so much hope for Paper Chic every year and I really hope and wish 2018 will be the year I can get to revive the brand.

As for the future of this blog... hmm... I have a lot of entries lined up and I haven't written all about them yet. Our trip to Cebu, Hong Kong.. brands Biolane and Bobble Art... I hope I get to find the time to sit down and write. The no helper situation isn't really helping! While this blog is an on-and-off hiatus, I made a new IG account just for my current skincare obsession... I made a promise a few years ago to take care of my skin because I'm not getting younger and so I guess the obsession went full force this year after I fell in love with Korean skincare and now skincare in shapes and forms!

That's it for now! It's the kids' exam week as well so I will be really busy for the next few weeks! For now, hope to see you at my new IG!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Althea Korea + My Skincare Routine!

Ok, let's talk about skincare. If you ask me to pick between make-up and skincare, I would always go for skincare. While I do put on make-up, I am lazy when it comes to removing it especially eye make-up so it's really skincare for me. When I hit puberty, my skin became oily and I had cystic acne. It was really bad. I went to the derma religiously but I eventually stopped then I started using skincare when I was in college. I've tried brands like Murad and Lancome but what really cleared my acne was ProActiv then I stopped using any skincare. I only started again when I was working and my mom gave me a pot of moisturizer. My routine was just cleanser + moisturizer, that's it. Then I eventually started applying anti-aging eye cream because I noticed I had fine lines around the eyes and I wasn't even 30 at that time! Then motherhood happened, I was tired all the time and me just thinking about putting all those creams on my face was making me lazier and I'd rather sleep! Who can relate?! But ever since discovering Althea Korea, I've a newfound love for Korean skincare!
Althea turns 2 this July!

I have to thank Althea Korea for making K-Beauty so accessible! I'm slowly shifting from Japanese brands to Korean brands because they're more affordable, they use natural/holistic ingredient and they're also very effective. My skin has never been this good! What made me became more addicted to K-Beauty: Goblin, Weightlifting Fairy, and Joan Kim, a famous Korean beauty vlogger. How are Koreans poreless?! The more I watch them the more I got curious about Korean skincare, the more I wanted to learn more about 10-step Korean skincare and the more I was excited to shop at Althea Korea.
Almost everything in this photo I got it from Althea! Some of the products here at not opened yet and not everything I have are in the photo. Haha! I also use local brands like VMV and Zenutrients mostly for my sweat acne problem.

This July, Althea Korea is celebrating its 2nd Birthday and they are celebrating it with daily giveaways plus you get a chance to win a trip for two to Korea! I want to WIN!!! Joining is really easy, all you have to do is to shop at Althea from July 3 - 30, 2017 and that earns you a chance to win their awesome prizes!

I've been trying (operating word: TRYING) to follow the 10-step skincare as much as I can everyday, There are lazy days, I skip a step or two. If you want to know more about the 10-step skincare, you check this link: https://sokoglam.com/pages/the-korean-skin-care-routine. When I shopped two weeks ago at Althea, I only bought what I don't have to complete the 10-steps. After watching maybe 10 episodes of Joan's vlog, I had a long list of NEEDS. But I narrowed it down to these products:
Missha Time Revolution Essence, Klairs Toner, Klairs Vitamin C Serum and Klairs Sheet Mask. I've heard good reviews about these so I'm so excited to use them na! Winner talaga because they're not expensive and my skin is great. My friends have been complimenting my skin lately so that means my skincare is really working!
I just want to share this photo. I went to Hong Kong a couple of weeks ago with my mom and sisters. The only shop I was looking forward to shop in was Innisfree and they shopped more than I did! So happy they're Innisfree and Korean skincare converts too! It was what we've been talking about in our Whatsapp group.
The little bottle in the middle is Sulwhasoo which is a cult favorite. My mom bought the anti-aging line and got samples and she gave them to me because she knows I've been wanting to try it too but they're more expensive. So let's see if it's really the best.
GOAL: TO BE PORELESS! Haha!
Happy Birthday again Althea! Thank you for making my shopping life easier, I wish you many more years of success and may you continue to bring joy to K-Beauty fanatics like me out there!
