Our Baby Led Weaning Adventure Starts!

R started eating solids 2 weeks ago. We're trying baby led weaning/feeding with him. I read about this when Y was still a baby but I chickened out trying it with her. Lack of confidence din siguro. But this time with R, I wanted to try it. With Y being so picky with what she eats and used to eating lugaw that she doesn't like to chew her food now, lunok lang ng lunok! Hay... ka-stress minsan pakainin but that's another blog entry!

When I saw Jenny's E holding his food and feeding himself at 7 months old, nakakatuwa at nakakaaliw! So two weeks before R turned 6 months old, I read and researched and asked Jenny questions hehe. (I read this
: http://www.babyledweaning.com/) I asked Jenny if she follows the 3-day rule, she didn't. But I followed just to be sure! And his first food? Avocados!
He's still too small for his high chair (very sulit high chair which I got on sale!), as you can see, that he had a hard time reaching for his food so we're waiting for my sister's Bumbo. He loved the avocados! He was mashing it in his hands then he sucks his fingers hehe! It was really amusing to watch him eat by himself.
But the next feeding when we fed him carrots then potatoes, he didn't like it that much. To BLW mommas, is this normal? I really have no idea too! We're slowly learning all this and I will ask Jenny again after the holidays. Now we're trying apples, bananas, pears and I'll buy more veggies this weekend!
Ang cute!!!!
He still can't sit by himself without support. He's very curious about everything right now, eats everything his hands can hold but not food. So we're feeding him every other day muna until he turns 7 months old which is in less than 2 weeks. Ang bilis!
Any tips?

Hi-5 High: 1, 2, 3, 4... Hi-5!

I'd been meaning to blog about this last weekend pa after watching the show but I got so busy with Y, prepping for R's first solid food, and well, it's the holiday season! Everyone's busy with shopping and eating hehehe!

The moment Kaye tweeted that Hi-5 was coming to Manila last October, I was so excited for Y that I bought front row tickets agad! I got us the 7pm show for last Saturday (December 15)!

The day before, I was already psyching Y about it. I told her we're watching Hi-5 tomorrow and she couldn't stop talking about it and she kept telling that to her yaya and our helper. Hehe cute! I didn't think she'll understand yet but I guess she did! :) On the day, we had a very busy schedule! We needed to go the pediatrician and I wanted her to nap so she'll be energized and enjoy the show! But we made our schedule work.

Outfit of the day: Gap x DVF dress, Little Red Shoe Sandals
After our check up at the pediatrician, my family of four went to Mall of Asia for Hi-5 Holiday Show, but it was just me and Y watching. :) When we got to the mall, we saw a lot of kids were wearing the Hi-5 Foam Finger and Y kept pointing at it and making kulit about Hi-5. We were there before 6PM so we had to wait pa. I saw Kaye and her son, RL, while lining up for the SM E-Plus Card then after I went to buy Y a foam finger for Php210. The other merchandises were expensive na, the foam finger was the cheapest!
Happy with her Hi-5 hand!
When we went it, it was still around 20 minutes before the show starts. We were seatmates with Kaye! The show started on time naman. Y was just sitting at the first 2 songs I think, nanibago siguro. Haha! But after the 2 songs, she started dancing and singing na! I was glad to see my daughter enjoying the show! Kung hinde, sayang ang 4k ko! LOL!
Before the show started
Waiting...
This girl came out 5 minutes before the show started, pampa-excite! Forgot her name though.
Ayan na sila!!!
My favorite Hi-5, Lauren!
Y dancing!
hula dancing...
The show lasted for 1.5 hours with a 20 minutes intermission. She was asking where the Hi-5 went during the intermission haha! She enjoyed the bubbles during one song. Hi-5 even did the Gangnam Style! Even I enjoyed the show! May pabato-bato pa ng malaking beach ball! Y also enjoyed that, it almost hit her, pero kebs lang siya haha! After their last song, they hi-5-ed the kids! Siyempre stage mother lang ang peg at talagang binuhat ko si Y so she can get to hi-5 the Hi-5! Sayang 3 girls lang, the 2 boys hinde. Ako lang naman makakaalala non! :)
Intermission muna!
Under the sea...
Fun!
We had fun! I know Y did! She kept talking about it after and the day after that. Sayang RL and Y didn't have a photo together! After watching, we met up with the BOS and R and we had dinner at Lugang which you can read about here. We didn't realize na late na pala when we finished eating. When we go out and I know that we'll be going home late, I usually asked the yaya to bring the kids' pajamas na so paguwi pag tulog na, direcho na! :)
I had fun! Did you?
Did you watch Hi-5? Enjoy ba? :)

A&D Eats: Lugang Cafe, Mall of Asia

After watching Hi-5 last Saturday, we had dinner at Lugang Cafe. This wasn't our first time to eat at Lugang, so we already knew what to order! Ito nanaman kami, takaw tingin but we finished everything we ordered hahaha!
But first, here's something about Lugang:
Lugang Café, the latest incarnation brought to you by the famed Bellagio Group of Restaurants, Shanghai & Beijing, is the epitome of elegance and style. Being the first branch outside China, Lugang Café is already taking the culinary world by storm, having already garnered nationwide recognition such as the highly prestigious Philippine Tatler's 100 Best Restaurant Awards.
Eight, world-class, Chinese chefs, all aimed to provide an outstanding dining experience, prepare our sumptuous array of the very best dishes that Taiwan has to offer. Breaking free from the conventional look of a Chinese restaurant, Lugang Café sets itself apart from the rest with its modern interiors, and aesthetic design.
Our mission is to provide our guests with an exceptional dining experience by offering authentic Taiwanese cuisine from the freshest ingredients, served to you by our professional, well-developed staff. We guarantee only the best for our customers.
Our aim is to be the pioneer contemporary Taiwanese cuisine in the Philippines, and to open a chain of restaurants so that we may provide continuous employment and economic growth-the vision that we are in the forefronts of achieving.
Lugang Café is what every contemporary restaurants aim to be, chic and stylish with great service and food to die for, it's definitely a must try destination!

One of the things that I love about Lugang that it's a kid-friendly restaurant! It may look like a soshal and chic place but when they see you with kids, they immediately give the kids their own place mat, plate, bowl, cup and utensils! All from IKEA hehe.  Here's Y hamming it up!

Here's what we ordered:
Garlic Pork Roll
Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao
Chicken Topped with Scallion Ginger Oil (My fave!)
Hainanese Rice to go with the chicken
String Beans with Salted Egg
For Y: Wonton Soup and Noodles
For dessert: Steamed Taro Xiao Long Bao (which I ate 7 of 8 hehe)
For drinks I had the Tapioca Bubble Milk Tea. Hubby had the Mango with Sago and Coconut Cream (no photo)
Shoti!
We had a very filling and satisfying dinner. Though their price is a bit steep, their food is really worth a try. With the variety of food they offer, we had a hard time choosing! I think the table beside us was shocked by the amount of food we ordered haha!

Holiday Activity: Decorating Gingerbread Men

Auntie Jenny of COANM sent Y and R a Gingerbread Man Decorating Kit (Thank you Jenny!) and last Friday, we (well, mostly me) decorated the gingerbread men. But first, picture taking muna!
Y was so excited! I told her we're going to decorate a gingerbread man. She knows what a gingerbread man is because of this IPhone app that we play and there's a song which she memorized herself so we were singing that while decorating.

The kit includes 2 cookies, 3 packs of frostings (white, green, red), sprinkles, candies and a frosting bag (is that what you call it?) which we didn't use because the instruction didn't mention using it other than that the instructions were easy to follow!

This is the first time we're doing an activity like this. Y took it seriously at first, I put the frosting while she's the one who put the candies on the gingerbread man.
O diba? Ang serious!
Sabay tawa ulit! Hehe!
And half way into decorating, she started eating the candies! Haha! So I was the one who finished decorating.
Our finished product! Tadaaahhhh!
Our half eaten gingerbread man hehe.. mukha silang kawawa.

Thank you again Auntie Jenny! Y and I had fun doing this! :)
