Latch A Babe Nursing Wear

I've always hesitated buying nursing dresses and tops. I find them expensive, well at least the ones that I liked or ones that are nice, and the styles are boring or blah (no offense mommies ha!). Not until I discovered Latch A Babe (LAB)! First time I learned about LAB was while I was browsing thru Ebay, then I read about it on other mommy blogs, then I forgot about it.
I don't know how I rediscovered LAB but I stumbled upon LAB's FB Page and fell in love with their second collection! Maxi dresses and kimono dresses are right up my alley! I bought a Maxine Dress in Floral Orange at Zalora using my voucher.

Here are my picks!
I'm eyeing the Green Zigzag dress!
For this Yuri Dress, I like the Floral Blue, which I saw Jenny wore and it's so nice!!!
I wore the Maxine Dress over the weekend and it was super comfortable! That I want to buy more nursing dresses and tops from LAB! This is definitely one of my favorite mommy products and I would recommend to my fellow mommies!

Check their other collections at their FB Page:

Y is Potty Trained! Yay!

When I started my maternity leave, one of my goals was to potty train Y. My shobe gave Y a potty as an early birthday gift I tried training her when she was 11 months old but I think it's way to early. She wasn't ready, I wasn't ready.
Y at 10 or 11 months I think
We started with Y just wearing panties during the day. I told her yaya to be patient with wiping the wee wee on the floor. After 2 weeks, nada! She'll say wee wee after she had peed already, she won't sit on her potty, so we went back to diapers.

The other day, she was crying and saying wee wee. We asked if there's yayay (boo boo) when she pees, she said yes. We thought it's UTI (we're still having it checked). I think pinipigilan niya her pee because after she peed (on me before taking a bath), she was okay and back to herself already.

The other day, my first day back at work, I called home to check on Y and R. The BOS said Y pooped in the toilet and is peeing in her potty. I said "as in biglaan?" He said yes! My gulay! I've been training her for 2 months and she decided to pee/poop on her own the day I went back to work.

Oh goodbye diapers! This will be a big savings for us!

Can't wait to see her do it while I'm at home! I have to take a picture!

Excited For The Weekend!

In a week, Y will turn 2. *My gosh, where did the time go?!* And as a pre-birthday celebration, we're going out of town as family for the very first time! Yay!

We're going to Tagaytay for the weekend! I've been reading blogs on where to go and where to eat. I've come up with a list. Please do share if you have any restaurants you can recommend that's not so expensive orand activities that Y can try!

Restaurants we want to try:
Kanin Club in Paseo de Sta. Rosa
Bag of Beans
Breakfast at Antonio's (where the BOS really really want to try)

Activities for Y:
Residence Inn Zoo (based from Mommy Fleur's blog)
Horseback Riding
Fish Feeding in Nuvali

I need suggestions and recommendations. If you have a blog post on it, please leave the link too!

Thank you so much!

Back To The Daily Grind

Today I went back to work after 78 days of maternity leave. I wish maternity leave is at least 6 months! That would be great for breastfeeding moms and it would be a great encouragement for moms who want to breastfeed.

There was a bit of drama this morning before I left the house. I think my kids somehow knew that I was going back to work. Crying babies left and right. Separation anxiety at its finest! Hay such a heartbreaking scene and feeling... I was crying on my way down to the car. :(

It sucks that I have to work. Someday, one day, my goal of being a WAHM will be achieved!

It's a WAHMderful Life: A Work-at-Home Moms 101

If you've been reading my blog, I'v mentioned a number of times or maybe a couple of times that I want quit my job and just be a SAHM (stay-at-home mom) or a WAHM (work-at-home mom). I somehow got a peek of what it's like to me a SAHM while I'm on my maternity leave and I loved every minute of it!

I started thinking what can I do if I become a SAHM, I still want to earn money and be doing something aside from taking care of the BOS and the kids and managing a household. Then I saw this workshop on Dainty Mom's and I immediately signed up!

Martine (of Dainty Mom) is who I look up to when it comes to a WAHM! She's rocking it! Her website is a great source for those who wants to be a WAHM. And now Manila Workshops together with Dainty Mom, is having a one-day workshop for us moms who want to find their bliss working at home! Fantastic, right???

Countdown Back To Work

My maternity leave is about to end in less than week. I feel so sad that it's ending. 24/7 with the BOS and kids? Who wouldn't want that?!

The last two months was great! It's like giving me a peek of what's it like to be a SAHM/WAHM. I get to see Y and R all day and get to be hands on with them. I can go to events on weekdays without having to file a leave or cancel because I can't go and still get home early and spend time with my family. I blog more and I will surely miss being on Twitter 24/7 hihi!

And I will miss seeing these everyday...
The very makulit toddler
Milk drunk every time I feed R. SO PRECIOUS!

Can't say I'm happy that I'm going back to work. Going back to the daily grind means waking up early again, driving myself to and from work, pumping 4 times a day... Oh well. This is life.

Just thinking about it makes me miss my babies and BOS already!

6 days to go...

Amanda Loving Life!

Last Saturday, I was invited to very a lovely and intimate lunch at Aria Cucina Italiana for mommy bloggers by Amanda Griffin Jacob. When I got the invite thru email, I literally blinked twice to see what I was actually seeing. Hehe! Of course I confirmed agad and told hubby about it. :p

I think first time I saw her was at the airport. She was still a VJ for Channel V back then. She's actually one of my favorite VJs and model! So imagine my excitement talaga when I got the invite!
When I arrived, Fleur was already there and of course Amanda. Who would have thought I'd be sitting in front of a super model in this lifetime?! OA ba? Haha! We got to chat a little bit about her pregnancy and her son Kieran and me telling her about my kids. She's so nice, pretty (inside and out), real and she's always smiling.
From sitting down, you wouldn't thought she's pregnant! She's 7.5 months along.

Goodness That is SLICE!

Trying out a bigger font size for this post!

Last Friday, I got to try out Slice when I was there for the Breastfeeding Forum (another post on that). People have been raving about their Choco Yema cupcake and I finally got to try it last Friday!

During the the forum, we were served lunch. A full plate with pasta, salad, and sandwich which I wolfed down so quickly (nahiya naman ako sa seat mates ko. LOL!).
Yummy food!
I also got to try their Belgian Hot Chocolate which was so rich and chocolate-y and the reason why I have sore throat now!

Then dessert came! Cupcakes, cupcakes, and more cupcakes! My eyes went huge when they served the choco yema cupcakes haha! There was also red velvet cupcakes and a new cupcake which they are not serving yet! First dibs kami!

I Can Be So Lucky!

Can't think of a nice title so I used the line from Kylie Minogue's song... Hehe

Last Wednesday, August 15, 2012 was the grand launch of Lucky Chinatown. I was lucky (see what I just did there?! LOL) enough to be invited! And lucky that I live near the mall so I didn't have to take the shuttle that was offered. I left 9:25AM here and got to the mall in 20 minutes!

I was kind of worried that I would be alone and not know anyone when I got there. I was tweeting with April and Jackie before I left home hoping to see them there. I was so relieved when I saw Jackie at the registration booth, I introduced myself. She's so nice and pretty! We clicked instantly and started chatting about pregnancy, breastfeeding, and motherhood.

We were given these lucky charm bracelet to wear! Cute noh?

BREASTFEEDING ADVOCATES: KILL BILL

Repost from Chronicles of a Nursing Mom Blog

BREASTFEEDING ADVOCATES:  KILL BILL

205 congressmen misled with real intent of proposed
“Breastfeeding Promotion and Infant Formula Regulation Act”

Breastfeeding advocates denounce the proposed House Bill entitled “An Act Promoting A Comprehensive Program on Breastfeeding Practices and Regulating The Trade, Marketing and Promotions of Certain Foods for Infants And Young Children”, or short title “Breastfeeding Promotion and Infant Formula Regulation Act.”

The proposed House Bill is a substitution of House Bills No. 3396, 3525, 3527, 3537, as approved by the Technical Working Group held on July 2, 2012.

According to Innes Fernandez, lead convener of Save the Babies Coalition, the consolidated bill includes provisions authored by Reps. Magtanggol T. Gunigundo I, Josephine Vernonique R. Lacson-Noel, Lani Mercado-Revilla, Lucy Torres-Gomez and Rufus Rodriguez that undermine breastfeeding and indulge milk manufacturers.

“The true intention of the “Breastfeeding Promotion and Infant Formula Regulation Act” is to water down the Milk Code, or Executive Order 51,” Fernandez declared.

In the proposed House Bill, milk companies will be allowed to advertise their products intended for children over six months; conduct promotion on breastfeeding; give information, education, and communication materials about breastfeeding; place health and nutritional claims for their products; and donate infant formula during times of disaster, calamities, and emergency cases.

All those provisions are prohibited under the Milk Code

In their position paper, Save the Babies stated that the “consolidated Bill does not serve the interest of the Filipino people, rather it propagates the commercial interest of the multinational milk companies.”

She also condemns the manner in which the signatures of 205 representatives were acquired.  “205 representatives were misled, misinformed, and even deceived to believe that this proposed bill will help improve the health and welfare of children and women,” Fernandez revealed.

The Save Babies Coalition is comprised of four non-government organizations namely: Civil Society for Educational Reform, Ecowaste Management Coalition, Partnership of Philippine Support Service Agencies Inc., Health Justice and Mother Support Groups Nationwide.

Likewise, various medical professional organizations released a position statement on the consolidated House Bill on breastfeeding.  Speaking on behalf of “millions of Filipino infants and young children, their mothers and fathers”, the group expressed dissent over the attempts to “substantively amend the existing breastfeeding-related laws” which have shown positive impact in improving breastfeeding rates in the country.

The statement also reaffirmed their role as responsible health professionals who work “conscientiously towards decreasing child mortality.”

Child rights organization, Save the Children also issued a statement, opposing the proposed House Bill amendments.  It declared that the modifications will only “advance business and profit interests of milk companies” and called on communities, LGUs, legislators, and even President Benigno Aquino III to uphold the rights of Filipino families by dismissing any changes to the landmark Milk Code.

The Milk Code, which was signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino in October 1986 is based on the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes and relevant Resolutions of the World Health Assembly, is given a “very good” rating by the Breastfeeding Scorecard of the SOWM 2012 and is positively noted by the Concluding Observation of the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in 2009.

The breastfeeding advocates are working with various sectors, groups, and noted individuals to help kill the bill.

Senator Pia Cayetano, author of the Expanded Breastfeeding Act, has been vocal that the proposed provisions will not gain ground in the Senate as long as she is the chairman of the committee on women and health.

Happy 2 Months!

R is 2 months old today! Took this photo earlier today.

One thing we learned just this week is that R doesn't like the rain! He cries when it's raining hard.
Can't believe he's 2 months old already!

A Sunny Saturday To All!

It's great to finally see the sun and dry streets!!! Hope the weather stays the same for the rest of the weekend!

Took my shoti to the bus station this morning and came home to these...

Yummy looking and also yummy tasting J.co Donuts straight from Jakarta, Indonesia!!!
Thanks, Mama!

No yaya, QT with the kids, monthly photo shoot of R (he's two months na!) and waiting for something to arrive today in the mail.

It's turning out to be a great Saturday! Hope you're having a great one too!

My Zalora Shopping Experience

It's been 2 months since I won the 'My Zalora Wishlist' contest, got my prize (4 sets of vouchers) and I've redeemed two all of them already. I drafted this post 2 weeks after ordering but I've decided to wait until I've used up all of my vouchers.

What can I say? I love shopping at Zalora! I've been checking their site everyday since I got my vouchers, looking for things I fancy and putting them in my wish list (which is still buggy at times). They have new arrivals every week which makes it hard for me to pick what I want to buy!

I've shopped online many times, from multiply sites to facebook to many other online stores but I think Zalora is the first online shopping site in the Philippines that has a good working system. IMO ha.. I haven't heard a bad comment about them yet, or I could be wrong.
Manong Zalora!
Ok, let's break it down, shall we? (Disclaimer: I'm a programmer/analyst by profession but I haven't handled anything web-based nor have I done QA on web-based systems so this is just an honest observation.)

On the technical side, it's still buggy. Here's what I noticed:
- Not everything is listed on their "Brands" list.
- I can't view my wish list (last month). Wish list is still needs fixing.
- Shopping cart items can's be saved, it would nice not to put everything all over again in my cart everytime I login.
- Not all new arrivals are shown in the "New Arrivals" section
- It's not easy to browse the items, sometimes what is shown in page 1 is shown again in another page.
- It would be nice to have a more detailed description of the items (e.g. washing instruction, material used, etc.).
- Items to be returned sometimes takes time for them to pick up.
Onesie and cloth diaper for R! Shopping for the little one at Zalora!

What I like? It's a one-stop shop! For moms like me and for someone who almost doesn't have the time to go to malls and shop or buy what I need, an online shop like Zalora is heaven-sent!

Here's what I like naman about Zalora:
- FREE shipping nationwide!!!
- They call to confirm your orders
- I like their COD payment option! No need for me to go to the bank. Tamad ako maglakad. Haha!
- Delivery is fast (just 1 day, my friend got his order within the day, cool diba?!). Provincial orders takes 2 days I think.
- Variety of brands
- Items can be returned within 30 days! and return slip is already included in the package
- I love the packaging! (It used to be in a box, now it comes with a paper bag seen above)

And here are some of the things I bought!
Matroyshka Measuring Spoon
Addicted to Bamboo Dappy!
Going green, going glass! Lifefactory Glass Bottle.
 Clothes!!!
Cuzo Bag! My bag of the moment! Read more about the bag here.

I really had the time of life shopping for these things! So I want to thank Zalora and Nuffnang for the contest and picking me as one of the winner! It's the biggest prize I've won!!! EVER!!! I really think I was a lucky buntis. I gave birth four days after learning I won. Haha! I'll definitely buy again at Zalora!

So as a treat to you my readers! I'm giving you a Php150 voucher to use on your next purchase! Yay!!! Just enter the code below:

A&D's Cloth Diaper Challenge

When I was pregnant with R, I told the BOS I wanted to use cloth diaper on R and also try baby wearing (another post on that). Go lang daw! With Y, the challenge was to breastfeed and I DID! With R, cloth diapering and baby wearing will be my challenges(?).

I used cloth diapers with Y but only a few months. I only had 6 cloth diapers then and I didn't really took it seriously. But I realized I was spending so much money on disposables (even now! Potty training still not yet successful), I can buy a whole lots of cloth diapers with the money I was spending or buy myself a new pair of shoes!

This is Y in cloth diapers while she was a baby!
So this time I challenged myself to use cloth diaper full time or semi-full time. Now I have a total of 20 cloth diapers, 15 Next9s, Bamboo Dappies and 2 Bambumz, all are local brand diapers, all are one-sized cloth diapers. I find imported ones too expensive (read: barat), so I'm waiting for sales and deals before buying imported cloth diapers. And I'm buying more Bamboo Dappies!
Bamboo Dappy. Bought from Zalora
Inserts (L-R): Bamboo Dappy, Next9, Bambunz
My stash!
But before I plunged into this cloth diaper challenged, I had to read about the how-to and the kinds of cloth diapers. I also wanted to hear about real experiences from other moms. It was so timely that this year Jen Ong of Chronicles of Nursing Mom hosted a blog carnival "Real Diaper Week Carnival (read here), after reading every entry, I knew I can do it also!

Plus I also bought a copy of Changing Diapers book. I love the book! Everything you need to know about cloth diapers is in the book!

Changing Diapers book which helped me a lot in understanding cloth diapers!
I also bought these Manila Baby Shop's wet bags in anticipation of this challenge. Haven't use them for its purpose yet, we're temporarily using it to put Y or R's extra clothes and diapers for when going out!

Here is how I'm using my wet bags as of the moment!
Also these liners so catch the poop! I didn't know they had this before when I was using cloth diapers with Y. I think the yaya before gave up on washing them because of the poop. Now, I asked the yaya to just use the washing machine. (Oh! Need to research more about what's the best detergent to use! Currently using Cycles.)
Bumkins Diaper Liners
Next9 Bamboo Liners (Photo from Mothering Earthlings)

Last Friday, I started using cloth diapering R! R is already 8 weeks. I only started him this week because the cloth diapers only fit him now at the smallest setting. So far, I'm getting the hang of it! It's easy and doable! I'm thinking "Why didn't I do it with Y?!" We're still using disposables at night and I'm still a bit scared to use cloth diapers. Still reading up and looking for a more absorbent insert. And I want to try this heavy wetter cloth diaper that I saw.
Next9 model
Bamboo Dappy, which I love!
Cloth diaper I bought at the last Expo Mom
I never thought that cloth diapering can be fun and addicting! I want more fun prints! Have yet to try cloth diapering when going out and at night! I'll blog more about my challenge and adventure with cloth diapers as we go along!
