A Busy Weekend! Part 1

Last weekend was a busy weekend for us. Y's cousin G came over from the province to stay with us for a night. But before they came, I took Y with me to the La Leche League meeting at Mothercare in GB5. Topic was Nutrition and Solid Foods. The meeting was short or because we were late haha! I felt guilty though when the topic was about coffee. I sometimes sneak a cup of coffee, not decaf ha. When Y wakes up earlier than her usual 6:30AM, I need to have coffee to start my day, if not, I'll be sleepy the whole day in the office! I don't want to snack all the time to keep me awake, so I drink a cup of coffee. Sometimes I drink milk tea. Bad mommy.. :( Anyways, the meeting was informative. I wanted to ask but forgot, about babies drinking water when they reach six months and eating solids. Y is rejecting water, every time we try to make her drink water (from bottle), it's like she knows it's not milk, so she rejects it. Minsan sapilitan pa! She drinks a drop or two siguro. So I bought a sippy cup yesterday, baka she'll drink from it. We shall see!
Y that morning in her little corner!
Back to the topic... I brought my yaya with me because BOS has work on Saturdays. It was kind of hot inside Mothercare last Saturday, may be the AC is not yet on, I don't know. Y is pawisin! Her head gets pawis pag nainitan so I have to ask her yaya to take her sa mas malamig na area. Then I would hear her laugh (while still at the meeting), one SA was playing with her, she keeps on laughing. Na-excite ata! First time mag-mall! Her yaya said she keeps on smiling and laughing at everything she sees. Haha! The meeting ended around 12:30, I was hungry so we ate at the nearest resto I saw which was Toastbox. It was my second time to eat there. I ordered the Nasi Goreng and Hainanese Chicken with Dried Noodles. The yaya and I shared. Sosyal ang yaya! I had milk tea, pasaway talaga ako! Hehe.. I was teasing my yaya if she wants to have her picture taken, you know remembrance, hehe.. it's her last week this week (huhu...) and it was her first time in GB. I took her picture and promise to have it printed and give it to her. Must do that tomorrow!

After eating, we passed by Dexterton because Grohe is on sale and we still don't have a shower on our bathroom. Checked the model and design, took note, called BOS and we left. Y was fast asleep na. We were supposed to go the gardens outside to have my yaya's photo-op pa but Y was sleeping already so we went home na.

Y woke up just before we arrived home. At home, we were all excited the little man, G! He's one and a half month only. But when we put Y and G side by side, parang magkasing-laki lang sila! LOL! He's mixed feeding and drinks about 4oz every three hours. Y, talo ka talaga ng pinsan mo!
You're drinking 1 to 2oz per hour, sometimes sapilitan pa. Tsk tsk. G is super gwapo! Bias Di-e ako! He looks Tisoy, not at all Chinese looking. Nagmana sa dad, not sa Mom. Sorry Shobe hehe..
Look naman! They are almost the same size and they are 6 months apart! Haha!
"Hi G, I'm your cousin, Y!"
Of course, picture picture kami! We won't be able to see G again until next month or I don't know when. I couldn't resist him.. grrr! I love babies! Makes me want to get pregnant again and have a boy but, I don't want too yet. I want to enjoy Y first! I'm happy just being an aunt to such an adorable baby boy!!!

That weekend made me realize how different our (sister and I) parenting style are. She's does the cry it out method, while me, I can't stand hearing Y crying! I have to carry her, I like carrying Y and hugging her, I want her with me all the time! I think I'm leaning to attachment parenting. Maybe because she's a SAHM while I'm a working mom. She's still breastfeeding, though she feeds G with formula. I wish I can do more in encouraging her but I think she got traumatized to what happened to her nipple during the early breastfeeding days. She just pumps and feed. Still, I'm happy she hasn't given up breastfeeding at all!
Goodnight, G!
We had fun that weekend. My achi also slept over so it was a slumber party! Haha! We ordered pizza! Too bad my mom was in the province. I'm sure there will be next sleepover like this!
G and Y :)
Come Sunday, we were all sad that G has to leave and go back to the province. But that's ok! We'll see you again little gwapito! :)

How To Wear a Tutu!

The tutu doesn't fit Y yet, it keeps on falling down, so I don't know who, put this on her head. Hahaha! We had a great laugh about this. Wala ka daw buhok Y, ayan tuloy ginawang wig ang tutu! LOL! So cute!

Happy Friday! Happy Weekend! :)

Y's First Birthday Party

Y attended her first birthday party yesterday! Not her birthday ha. This is actually a first for us also, the family. It's the first time that we three (BOS, Me, and Y) went out together as a family (hindi counted ang visit to the pedia! LOL). And we went out without a yaya!
Still at home..
On the way, Y kept looking outside the car
On with the story..

What: GCU's First Birthday
Where: New World Makati Hotel
When: March 20, 2011 @ 11:30PM
Theme: Aviator/Airplane

We arrived around 12PM. I nursed her in the car brfore going to the party, she actually fell asleep. But when we went down of the car, nagising. We sort of have a mishap with the stroller when we got to GB3. My sister kept on calling because she wanted to see Y na (Sorry, first time eh) and because she has another party to go to. We parked at GB3 so we can just walk and cross to New World. Well, not stroller-friendly I tell yah! We used the ramp so that we don't have to carry the stroller down the stairs (four steps lang naman), but the end of the ramp is not the pedestrian crossing, mga 2 meters away pa. With the cars passing by, I kind of freaked! I should have carried her na lang. When we crossed, ganun din.

When we got to the party, the program already started. Our table is at the back near the doors which was fine. So we can put Y in the stroller too without blocking people. And... Quicker access to the buffet table hahaha! Y was quiet at first, she was sleepy kasi. She kept on looking at the balloons and the decorations and the people who are at our table which are mostly my sister's friends. She was well-behaved and just wanted to carried when she's bored. Since she's still a baby, she can't enjoy the magic show or the games yet, so we just took her to two of the booths. 3D Photo and the Photo Balloon.
Are you enjoying the party, Y? :)

Cute! Kaso tabingi mukha ni Y.
This is from the photo balloon
We stayed until the acrobatic show, didn't finish the whole program because Y is sleepy, she has to nap. After saying goodbye to our friend, got the giveaway, we left. When we got home, Y slept, while I fixed my stuff and look what's inside the mini suitcase! Excited ang mommy!
The giveaway! Soyal! It's the same size as a lunch box.
There was also food inside but I took it out already.
I love the giveaways! It's so sosyal! Not your ordinary loot bags!
Here's Y, inspecting the food from the loot bag. Approve ba sayo, Y? Hehe
"Mommy, can I eat this na?"
Y, I know you won't remember this. So I created this entry so you can have a look next time ;) I can't wait for your own birthday! It won't be as bongga as this, but Mommy and Papa will make sure it's a birthday to remember!

"Welcome to the first Milk Mama Diaries Carnival (March). To celebrate National Women's Month, our participants share how breastfeeding has changed them as a woman. Please scroll down to the end of this post and check out the other carnival participants."

Breastfeeding has been such a wonderful experience. I'm still breastfeeding Y, who's now six and a half months already! I never thought I would reach this far, let alone breastfeeding. No one in my family did thought I would last this long. My mom was not supportive at first, because we were all formula-fed, but now she is. I think she did her own research, she now also encourages my younger sister to breastfeed her baby. Now my goal is to breastfeed Y until she's a year old.
Four-day Old Y
When I was pregnant, I read a lot on breastfeeding. I bought books, read kellymom, forums, and blogs, and even attended a LLL (La Leche League) meeting. I was gearing up myself for this new chapter I was going to embark. Breast pumps, nursing wear, nursing cover, nursing bras... all those stuff.

I thought I was all ready but... nope! I was not! Well, actually I was ready, I already anticipated the pain, the waking up in wee hours of the morning, the fussy baby. What I was not ready for was the change of my breast size! (Yeah, my breast became bigger during pregnancy but all I was worried and thinking about was the baby inside my belly.) Now, it's a size and cup bigger than my pre-pregnancy bra size! (And yeah, I read about the breast size will be bigger when breastfeeding) Ok, I always have small breasts. I was happy I didn't have big boobs because I don't have to worry about the clothes I wear (cause there's nothing to see) or if guys are oggling at it. Nowadays, I have to think about those! I miss my small breasts. But I'm not complaining! I'm used it now and big boobs means I have milk and that's good!

With the change, and since I haven't gone back to my pre-pregnancy weight yet (Kelan kaya?), my clothes don't fit anymore. Some do fit but it's fitted on the chest area, and so the need (emphasize on the NEED! LOL!) for new clothes! My shopping style now is different unlike before. Now, I have to consider if I can nurse when I wear it. The style choices are limited for normal clothes. Yes, there are nursing wear available but I haven't found anything that I like (one that fits my style and would go well with my current wardrobe, yes I'm maarte that way too!). I hope I find something soon because we're starting to take Y out, and of course I have to feed her while we're out. I may be comfortable popping my breasts out at home but not in public, the BOS would kill me if I do that! Haha! And I think I need to buy a proper nursing top or dress.

Buttondowns are the way to go.
I can't breastfeed in this. I didn't bring Y with me, hence the outfit!

Back to topic.. Still, I like to shop! Now I'm more excited and look forward on Expo Mom, any mom fairs, and Baby Fairs than the Rockwell Urban Bazaar! I like going thru toy stores than Topshop or Zara. Ok, I still like going to Topshop and Zara but I think about buying for Y first before me. And that's a change! Haha! Now, I'm beginning to be obsessed with baby gears, baby toiletries, cleaning stuff, feeding utensils, cloth diapers, baby slings.. anything and everything for Y! Who isn't an OC mom?! Right? And given that my baby is girl, it's more fun to dress them up than baby boys! That means more shopping for Y than me! LOL! I'm not complaining (really!) because there's still the joy of shopping! Haha!

Breastfeeding is my bonding time with Y. I'm a working mom so I only get to see her in the morning before I go to work and when I come home at night, she's already sleeping. I nurse her whenever I could. I was never close to my mom as a child, we are closer now, but wished we were close when I was young. I want to be close to Y and to my future daughters or sons, I hope breastfeeding is a step to that. Breastfeeding is my best gift to Y.

Breastfeeding has changed me a lot, not only physically or on the shopping side. It taught me to be more patient. It made me stronger and confident It has made me appreciate other breastfeeding moms and soon-to-be moms who's decided to breastfeed too! Breast is best! I'm really thankful that the BOS opened my eyes to breastfeeding. It really makes me proud that I made the decision to do it. It really is a commitment! And as time passes, I became passionate about breastfeeding, even considered to be trained as a lactation counselor! I'm still considering it when my schedule permits. I want to encourage other women to breastfeed, I want to inspire. I guess the whole experience changed me as a person, as a woman, as a wife, and of course as a mom.

Where to go...

Y Fell Off the Bed! Wah!

She fell off the bed this morning! I feel so bad. Bad mommy :( Our bed is about two feet high from the floor! It's high! And we don't have wood floors so imagine my fear and panic!

We co-sleep, I was already awake this morning when she woke up. But I didn't get up, I was playing with her pa, and then I fell asleep! :( Y doesn't crawl forward, she crawls backward pa lang. So she fell kaka-atras nya. All I heard was her cry! When I heard her cry, I knew she fell from the bed because she's not really the crying type. Ayun nga, she's on the floor na. I picker her up, consoled and hugged her. My whole body was shaking! I kept on saying sorry to her while I hugged her.

She calmed down a few minutes after. I checked her for any bruises, bumps, and checked if her limbs are fine. She was okay, she was back to being her kulit self, she smiling and all. Parang walang nangyari. I knew she was okay (mother's instinct, I guess). But I still wanted to be sure. I called my pedia's clinic, no answer. So I sorted to Google. Every site I checked said that a fall from three feet or less would not result to any major injury.

The yaya gave her a bath after that. Hindi pala pwede maligo, a precaution when there's pilay. Oopps.. Lesson learned. I called the pedia's clinic again, she asked us to go see her so that she can see her and checked her. I like how thorough my pedia is. We immediately went there, she checked Y. We can't really know how she fell, head first or butt first. But from my theory and BOS's theory, she didn't fell hard. Her pedia thinks so too. I didn't hear a thud. Just her cry when she was on the floor. Everything is fine. But we still have to observe her for any vomiting, but her pedia said she doubt that Y will vomit. She advised us to have Y took Paracetamol.

Today is a stressful day! I still want to co-sleep but I don't want this to happen again. My solution is to have her Graco "crib" in our room, she'll sleep there from now on or put pillows and mats on the floor so when she falls again (I hope not!), it would not be like today.

I'm so sorry Y! Tomorrow when mommy's awake na, I'll sit up na and not lie again on the bed.

Sunday Afternoon Out

Last Sunday was a lazy Sunday. My mom really wanted to go out and ran errands, pick up her clothes at Alterations Plus and from the laundry shop and pick up my papa's barong at Intercon. But I was kinda lazy to drive haha! But I wanted to take Y out too, but not for long of course! So my mom suggested that we just go S&R na lang and papa will drive. Ok game!

Used this MK bag for the first time! It doubled as my diaper bag!
Y hadn't have her afternoon nap yet, I said it's okay because she'll sleep in the car on the way there. So I dressed her up, she finally got to wear this cute dress I bought from a bazaar while I was still pregnant. The BOS didn't come with us, I also didn't ask the yaya to come with us since we will be there for an hour or two lang. So it's just me, Y, and my parents. In the car, Y didn't sleep! She nursed while we were in the car, I was hoping she'll fell asleep, but no! She was wide awake, she kept looking outside. She's a curious one.
Y looking around S&R!
\When we got to S&R, I put her in the stroller, strapped her in and had her facing me. We went from one aisle to another, she kept on looking around. Touching whatever that's near her. She was already sleepy when we got there, she kept on yawning, but she didn't want to sleep. I even reclined her seat. She just laid there, enjoying being pushed and eating her fingers! Haha! At first, I kept on pulling her hands every time she puts her fingers in her mouth, but it's not easy! Pushing then stopping then pulling away her fingers! I did that thrice in a matter of a few minutes! So I just let her be, checking every time baka she'll choke herself!

Y, sarap ba kamay mo?
At one point, she got bored and wants to be carried. When we were done, I was hungry. We ordered hot dogs and a chicken roll. I put Y down to the stroller, halfway thru my hot dog, she wants to be carried again! Haha so cute! Marunong na siya ngayon!

When we got to the car, she nursed again. This time she fell asleep na talaga. By the time we got home, about an hour after, she woke up na. And when we got home, hyper na siya ulit!
Asleep in my arms in the car. That's her trademark pose when sleeping!
Y kulit!
I bought her a cute Elmo book!
Hay Y, you're getting makulit na! :)

Before I forget again, S&R is having a Member's Treat Sale starting today!

Denim on Denim!

Few years back, I thought denim on denim was a fashion faux pas. Last year (was it last year?), it became the trend! Well, I haven't really tried this trend but I would want to try!

Dilemma Solved!

Remember my entry the other day? My dilemma on high chairs and booster chairs is O-V-E-R! But let me tell you first what I saw when I was searching the "perfect" high chair or booster seat.
I went to the mall last Monday during office break because I was really itching to buy a chair for Y already. Excited much? Initially, my plan was to buy a cheaper high chair, as long as it looks nice, sturdy, and doesn't look "cheap". Yes, I'm maarte. I like nice-looking things. LOL! There were a few choices, I didn't get to take pictures because I was in a rush. One kind can be converted to a toddler chair and table, I think it was Looney Tunes. Nothing I saw I liked. Even the Chicco one, I didn't like. Price range were from Php2,000 to Php6,000.

I think this costs around Php4,000. Hindi ko type!
Then I moved on to looking for a booster chair. The only brand that has booster chair in Robinson's Department Store was Safety 1st. I think of all brands, they are the only one that has more options.

I was decided already to get this one!
I was sold on buying this, as I have mentioned on my other post. I even asked the SA to take it out from the box so I can have a look. It's cute diba? It's only booster chair that has cushioned seat. I didn't buy it because I want to wait for a sale. Kahit 10% off lang ok na ako. But unfortunately there won't be any sale coming up but they have a ongoing promo, free oral care kit worth Php300 if you purchase worth Php2,000.

And then, I read Mommy Fleur's post that SM Baby Company is having a sale!
So yesterday, since I was on leave, after having my driver's license renewed, I went straight to SM. Excited much again? I was decided to get the pink booster seat. But still I went there with an open mind. When I got there, my eyes zoomed in to the big sign that says 50%! There were four strollers and one high chair! I got excited! LOL. The high chair is Graco! Who could go wrong with a Graco? I haven't heard any bad review, only raves from friends and friends of friends. They are sturdy. Original price was Php8,999.75, down to Php4,500! I got more excited. I want it! It has a few scratches here and there and a bit dirty. It was their last stock. But it was ok, 50% off it 50% off! I still checked the booster seat, baka it's on sale but it's not. Same promo with Robinson's lang. So I got the high chair! Yay!
Graco Contempo Grazia
When I got home, the excited mommy, ME, I took it out of the box and have Y try seating on it. Perfect! I think she liked it. Or ako lang haha! It's the same model of high chair that I saw and liked in Amazon. Different design lang. I'm so happy with my purchase! I had the high chair cleaned after of course.
Here's Y enjoying her chair. Reading her Curious George board book.
Dilemma Solved!

I Don't Want To Impulsive Buy!

Y started eating solids (will post pictures!) last Sunday, I fed her with lugaw. I think she didn't like it judging by her facial expression. LOL! Today, I added breast milk. I think she liked it better.

The feeding set I'm using now is the one given to her by one of her granduncle. Combi Feeding Set Stage 1. I love Japanese products! :D
Its serving it's purpose naman but I want the Munchkin Spoon with heat sensor. I want it not really because of the heat sensor feature but because the spoon reminded me of my childhood, my little brother's actually. His spoon looks exactly like it! Except the tip is white.

In the mall, it costs Php519.75! Searching Multiply and Ebay.ph, prices range from Php300 - Php475. Still cheaper than in the malls. Problem is, it's too many. But I can always share it to my sister and have G use it when it's his turn to eat solids.

Another thing, I'm looking for a sippy cup or trainer cup for Y. So that I can start training her to drink from a cup. I want to buy a stainless one because it's safer than plastic. But Y is starting to learn to throw things. So I also want to buy a plastic one. Too many choices, too many reviews!

Other things I want to buy! This I'm sure I'll buy!

Php559.75 in malls, I saw this in multiply / ebay for Php500!
Php389.75 each in mall, I found an ebay seller selling it for Php320!

I'm buying my Munchkins from Multiply or Ebay. The cheaper the better! I feel so ripped off by the prices in malls!

Any online stores you recommend? Multiply or Ebay sellers that are reliable and cheap? I'm not buying yet but I have a tendency to buy impulsively!
